Toledo, the captivating former capital of Spain, beckons wine enthusiasts from across the globe. Steeped in history and surrounded by world-class wineries, it is the very land that inspired the tales of Don Quixote. As you journey through this romantic and arid expanse, you’ll encounter iconic windmills, age-old clay “Tinajas,” and the unmistakable silhouettes of black bulls, a nod to Spain’s advertising legacy by the sherry company Osborne.
The region’s celebrated offerings are its full-bodied red wines crafted primarily from Tempranillo grapes. Our exclusive day tour for wine aficionados begins with a VIP winery visit, immersing you in the flavors and aromas of these prized wines. From there, we’ll meander through the vineyards, letting you savor the essence of this storied region. And no trip is complete without indulging in a gourmet lunch followed by a private guided stroll through Toledo’s ancient old town, revealing its rich tapestry of history and culture.

Madrid-Toledo-Madrid
9 am: Your luxurious Mercedes, driven by an experienced chauffeur, will arrive at your hotel in Madrid, and you will head southwest for an hour’s journey to Bargas in the La Mancha region, stopping in a charming wine estate for a VIP tour.
10 am: Arrive at a boutique estate such as the prestigious Finca Loranque winery, where the famous flying winemaker Telmo Rodriguez (also known as the “George Clooney” of the Spanish wine world) is one of the consultant winemakers. The cellar is in a pretty 18th-century farmhouse, and the vineyards are picturesque. You will receive a special private tour, visiting the vines and learning all about the native and imported varietals here. Finca Loranque uses the Spanish noble Tempranillo grape and Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. You will tour the barrel cellar and taste wine from the barrique. A complete tasting of their wines will conclude the visit, accompanied by some delicious (and local) Manchego cheese- enjoy!
11:45 am: You will visit the stunning town of Toledo next, only a few minutes’ drive from the wine estate, and your private guide will take you on a walking tour of the city’s most spectacular monuments. Jews, Moors, and Christians lived for centuries side by side during the “Convivencia,” and each of these groups left their mark on Toledo both architecturally and gastronomically. You will explore the magnificent Cathedral and its art gallery (featuring paintings by El Greco, Titian, Van Dyck, and Goya ); walk along the narrow cobblestoned streets taking in the Moorish Puerta del Sol and the Mudéjar Synagogue, built in the 14th century by Samuel Ha-Leví (the Jewish treasurer under Pedro the Cruel); and the tiny, perfect 12th century Iglesia de Santo Tomé. Finally, your guide will drop you off at your next port of call- lunch!
2:30 pm: An ultra-gourmet tasting menu awaits at the upscale Adolfo’s restaurant, featuring dishes that showcase the fusion of traditional Spanish ingredients with modern culinary techniques, including foie terrine, tuna carpaccio, and venison in a Syrah wine reduction. All dishes are paired with excellent local and regional wines from Adolf’s fantastic cellar.
5–6:15 pm: As the sun begins its descent, your driver will transfer you to Madrid, giving you time to reflect on the memories of a day steeped in history, flavored by the region’s finest wines and dishes, and forever imprinted with the beauty of La Mancha and Toledo.

Without doubt the feedback is extremely favourable - thanks for a great weekend.
The organization of the gourmet weekend in Madrid was excellent – everyone knew what was happening and when. Everyone enjoyed Toledo, in particular, the view across the river looking towards Toledo. We can’t praise our driver Angel enough! We definitely enjoyed the lunch at Adolfo’s and all enjoyed the wine tasting- we all learned something and afterward, everyone started checking bottle labels – Planeta Vino exceeded expectations. Would and have recommended Cellar Tours.
