Winery Overview
Emilio Moro Winery is a renowned, family-owned establishment with a rich winemaking heritage spanning 120 years. Situated in the picturesque region of Ribera del Duero, specifically in Pesquera de Duero, the winery holds an exquisite location that overlooks the majestic Duero River at an impressive elevation of 700 meters. This elevated vantage point grants their vineyards a unique advantage, allowing the grapes to thrive under optimal growing conditions, ultimately producing exceptional wines.
The Moro family’s winemaking legacy was carried forward by the visionary Emilio Moro, who began his journey in the winery alongside his young sons. Inspired by his passion and guided by his profound understanding of the vineyards, Emilio embarked on a transformative path in the late 1980s. At a pivotal meeting with his four children, they collectively decided to expand the winery’s commercial endeavors.
Emilio Moro undertook the ambitious task of planting new vines to realize their shared vision. He meticulously grafted the centenarian grapevines onto the young, promising ones, blending tradition with innovation. Finally, in 1989 after years of dedication and perseverance, Bodegas Emilio Moro emerged as a tangible reality, marked by the launch of their inaugural wine, which garnered the esteemed Denomination of Origin (DO) recognition.
Today, the winery is a testament to the Moro family’s unwavering commitment to winemaking excellence and a symbol of their steadfast connection to the land. Emilio Moro Winery boasts an expansive estate encompassing 173 acres of carefully cultivated vineyards, primarily devoted to the indigenous grape variety known as Tempranillo or Tinto Fino. This deep-rooted commitment to preserving and nurturing local varietals is the foundation for crafting wines that embody the authentic essence of the Ribera del Duero.
In September 2001, a remarkable chapter in the winery’s history unfolded with the completion of its new state-of-the-art winemaking facility. This modern cellar is a testament to Emilio Moro Winery’s unwavering pursuit of innovation, enabling them to employ cutting-edge techniques while remaining true to their traditional winemaking values.
As the Emilio Moro Winery continues to evolve and expand its offerings, the family’s enduring dedication to crafting exceptional wines remains the driving force behind its success. With each bottle bearing the Moro name, wine enthusiasts can savor the culmination of generations of expertise, passion, and respect for the land, transporting them on a captivating journey through the authentic flavors of Ribera del Duero.
